After one year of lobbying her colleagues, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's bill to change how the Pentagon handles sexual assault cases was rejected by the Senate on Thursday.

In his State of the County speech Wednesday night Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone mentioned New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ten times.  That's eight more times than he mentioned anyone else. Turns out the name dropping is intentional.

Federal agency: Metro North safety report to be released March 17

Federal regulators promised on Thursday to release a comprehensive safety report on Metro-North Railroad on March 17th.  The Federal Railroad Administration launched its safety investigation following a fatal derailment on Metro North railroad last December 1st.

Stamford's Smith House faces financial woes while state shifts focus

Smith House in Stamford, Connecticut is one of only two nursing homes operated by a city or town in the state. But city leaders are struggling to keep up with its rising costs. WSHU's Kaomi Goetz reports that changes in how Connecticut approaches long-term care is testing the viability of Smith House and other nursing homes across the state.
