Profiles In Folk

Fridays, 10 p.m. - midnight

WSHU's Profiles in Folk is an exploration of the diverse world of folk and acoustic music, with many of the weekly shows centered on a theme. The program profiles the topic or the performers featured. At least ten shows each year feature live, in-studio performances, with interviews by host Steve Winters. On the air since June of 1973, it is Connecticut's longest running folk music program.

Thistle and Shamrock

8 p.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday

Fiona Ritchie explores the evolving Celtic musical traditions of Europe and North America. You'll hear established and emerging artists and in-studio guests, such as Eileen Ivers, Dougie MacLean, Loreena McKennitt, The Chieftains' Paddy Moloney, and William Jackson.

AcousticConnections

Saturdays at 9 p.m.

Walt Graham presents a tuneful collection of acoustic music, both old and new, including contemporary singer-songwriters, folk, bluegrass, Celtic and popular standards. The songs are carefully chosen to fit a theme or to make a "connection" with events that affect our everyday lives.
