New Haven tech company gaining attention for emergency management software

As cities and towns across Connecticut look to improve their coordination during emergencies, many are signing up for a system created by New Haven-based Grey Wall Software called VEOCI, or  the Virtual Emergency Operations Center.

Long Island public officials want federal help to eradicate mosquito borne virus

Long Island public officials called on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to spend more money and resources to help prevent the spread of the Asian Tiger mosquito on Monday. The tropical mosquito is a carrier of the deadly Dengue virus. The request to the C-D-C comes despite the fact that only one Long Islander has contracted the virus. That was last November.

Democratic controlled Conn General Assembly decline overriding Gov. Dannel Malloy's vetoes

On Monday Connecticut lawmakers declined to override Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy’s eight vetoes from this year. This means lawmakers in the Democratic controlled General Assembly have not overridden any of Malloy’s vetoes since he took office in 2011.

It’s been nice weather over the last few days, but emergency response teams in cities and towns across Connecticut have been busy responding to a category-one hurricane.  The simulation is intended to prepare the state for this year’s hurricane season.
