U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut says municipalities need to encourage stricter zoning in coastal communities. That's so they can avoid the extensive property damage associated with extreme weather events like the recent Hurricane Sandy. Murphy was speaking at a forum he organized on Friday at the Yale Climate and Energy Institute. Murphy said it will be difficult to accomplish such zoning changes.

Connecticut House Speaker Brendan Sharkey says legislation that would end municipal car taxes is on his agenda for next year's legislative session. Sharkey announced his plans for the 2014 legislative session in Hartford on Thursday.

On Wednesday the House Committee on Ethics released a 177 page report saying they have “sustainable reason to believe” that Bishop may have broken ethics rules by soliciting campaign donations in exchange for official actions.
