Malloy announces candidacy for reelection

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy says he will seek a second term in office. The Democrat made the announcement Friday following a meeting of the State Bond Commission. Malloy previously said he would unveil his decision after the legislative session adjourns in May. He said he and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman made a "mutual decision" to run again and "intend to be around a while." Republicans who are running for governor include Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton.

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy signed a bill on Thursday to raise the state’s minimum wage to 10 dollars and 10 cents an hour by 2017.  The increase brings Connecticut in line with a federal minimum wage hike proposed by President Barack Obama.

Appropriations Committee adds $12 million to Malloy's budget proposal

The Appropriations Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly approved a revised state budget on Thursday that spends $12 million more than was recommended by Governor Dannel Malloy. The plan was approved by a vote of 26 to 19.
