Conn., NY, looking at signs of climate change in Long Island Sound

A new joint effort by Connecticut and New York is aimed at identifying the signals, or sentinels, of climate change in and around Long Island Sound. The goal is to help the coastal areas of both states prepare for the effects of a changing climate. But as the CT Mirror's Jan Ellen Spiegel reports, for one key sentinel, time may already be running out.

Conn. standardized tests show mixed results

The Connecticut Department of Education released  the results of this year's statewide standardized tests on Tuesday.

The Connecticut Academic Performance Test, which is given to 10th graders, showed slight improvement in math science, and reading. However, it also showed slightly lower scores in writing.

The Connecticut Mastery Test, which is given to elementary and middle school students, showed lower scores across the board.
