Decreasing shatter rate in baseball bats

Researchers with the U.S. Forest Service have been testing and analyzing thousands of shattered Major League Baseball bats. As the Innovation Trail's Kate O'Connell reports, they've been able to decrease the shatter rate by more than half.

The Connecticut General Assembly has so-called veto sessions scheduled for Monday morning meant to look at the possibility of overriding any of Governor Dannel Malloy's vetoes. The sessions are expected to be brief with no major action.

Conn. unemployment numbers flat in June

Job growth in Connecticut was essentially flat in June. That's according to the latest unemployment numbers released by the state labor department. The state's unemployment rate edged up slightly from 8 percent in May to 8.1 percent.
