Norwalk, Conn. debates building in a floodplain

The frequency of severe storms is putting new scrutiny on whether to build in coastal, flood-prone areas. That question faces not just private builders, but public officials like the city leaders in Norwalk, Connecticut, a city on Long Island sound. They're hoping to upgrade an old public housing project, using federal dollars.

After the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in December, millions of dollars were donated to the families of the victims of that tragedy. And much of that money has yet to be distributed. That process has led to complaints from families of the victims.

Murphy says European trade negotiations could help Conn. exports

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut hosted a forum Monday with representatives of European governments and Connecticut companies to discuss opportunities to export goods and services from the state. The meeting comes shortly after the U.S. and European Union kicked off negotiations for a massive trade agreement across the Atlantic.
