Residents of the working class neighborhood of Brentwood are upset that the illegal dumping of 50 thousand tons of toxic debris on several sites on Long Island is depriving them of the use of a town park. The Town of Islip is offering a free shuttle bus to get residents to other summer activities. But some Brentwood residents say they are not satisfied.
Connecticut Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy and his Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman will receive about $6.5 million in public money to finance their re-election campaign. The money was approved on Wednesday by the state Elections Enforcement Commission. Malloy’s main Republican rival has yet to be approved for public funding.

Connecticut's largest labor organization has endorsed Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy for a second term. Delegates to the Connecticut AFL-CIO's convention on Tuesday also endorsed the state’s incumbent constitutional officers, who are all Democrats.
