Connecticut's largest labor organization has endorsed Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy for a second term. Delegates to the Connecticut AFL-CIO's convention on Tuesday also endorsed the state’s incumbent constitutional officers, who are all Democrats.

As World Cup fever grips the globe, fans in New Haven, Connecticut are watching the matches live outdoors on large TV screens in a downtown courtyard. The courtyard called Pitkin Plaza is now known as New Haven’s World Cup Village.  Host country Brazil took on Croatia in the opening match.

Larson calls for vote on background check bill

A new report  by the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns and other advocates says between the 2012 shooting in Newtown and February of this year, there were 44 school shootings in the U.S, with 30 more since then. Congressman John Larson of Connecticut is calling for a vote on legislation requiring background checks to purchase guns.
