A US District Court judge in New Haven dismissed a lawsuit challenging Connecticut’s election campaign law on Wednesday. The national Democratic Governor’s Association had claimed the state’s campaign law is unconstitutional.
Danbury, Connecticut Mayor Mark Boughton’s gubernatorial campaign said on Tuesday its collected more than the 8,190 signatures needed to get Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti on the ballot for Lieutenant Governor in the state GOP primary. The outcome of Lauretti’s petition drive will determine the lineup for the August 15th GOP gubernatorial primary.
The town of East Haven, Connecticut has reached a settlement in a civil rights lawsuit against its police department. The town will pay $450,000 to plaintiffs, and adopt heavy limits on immigration law enforcement. The settlement resolves a 2010 lawsuit. It was filed on behalf of a priest and Latino residents who alleged repeated abuses by police officers, including false arrests, illegal searches and obstruction of justice.
