Foreign Gods Inc. is a new novel about one man's scheme to steal a statue of a Nigerian god of war to sell it in the United States. 

It's the second novel from writer and Nigerian political commentator Okey Ndibe, who lives in West Hartford, Connecticut and teaches African literature at Brown University. WSHU Morning Edition Host Tom Kuser spoke with Professor Ndibe about the new book.

On Wednesday New York Governor Andrew Cuomo praised Long Island's new electric company PSEG for, among other things,  greatly reducing the time customers had to wait for outages to be fixed.  WSHU's Charles Lane has this report on t how  PSEG was able to do this.

Newspaper publishers push back against municipalities

Connecticut newspaper publishers are pushing back against a proposal to remove a state requirement that municipalities place public notices in newspapers. The proposal is part of the Democrats legislative agenda to cut the cost of government.  A legislative committee held a public hearing on the proposal in Hartford on Wednesday.
