On Wednesday New York Governor Andrew Cuomo praised Long Island's new electric company PSEG for, among other things,  greatly reducing the time customers had to wait for outages to be fixed.  WSHU's Charles Lane has this report on t how  PSEG was able to do this.

Newspaper publishers push back against municipalities

Connecticut newspaper publishers are pushing back against a proposal to remove a state requirement that municipalities place public notices in newspapers. The proposal is part of the Democrats legislative agenda to cut the cost of government.  A legislative committee held a public hearing on the proposal in Hartford on Wednesday.

FEMA denies Conn. request for a snow emergency declaration

The federal government has turned down a request to help Connecticut cities and towns replenish their snow removal budgets. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro announced this to mayors and first selectmen in her Congressional district on Tuesday.

Proposed minimum wage hike in Conn. receives mixed reviews

Conn. Governor Dannel Malloy announced his proposal to increase the minimum wage during his State of the State Address on February 6th, 2013.

The Connecticut General Assembly's Labor Committee held a public hearing on Tuesday to address Governor Daniel Malloy’s proposed minimum wage hike. There were mixed reviews on the proposal, which would raise the state minimum wage to $10.10 an hour by 2017.
