The New York State Gaming Commission is holding hearings on the issue of gambling addiction. It’s part of a process that will allow the building of up to seven new casino gambling resorts in New York over the next several years.

New York’s top banking regulator says he wants to crackdown on not just companies involved in financial scandals, he wants the punish the workers too. Superintendent of New York’s Department of Financial Services Ben Lawsky was on Long Island Wednesday talking about this and other regulatory changes on the horizon.

Martin addressed more than 200 people at a Stamford Chamber of Commerce lunch event.

The 36-minute speech outlined Martin’s plan to change the way city government works.

Another Kennedy is trying his hand in politics. Ted Kennedy Jr., the son of the late U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, announced Monday night he's pursuing a state senate seat in Connecticut.

UConn wins championship, again!

Tuesday night, just one day after the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team won the NCAA championship, the UConn women repeated the achievement. Both UConn and Notre Dame were undefeated for the season going into the game, but the Huskies stunned the Fighting Irish, winning by more than 20 points.

This marks an unprecedented ninth NCAA division one championship for the UConn women. And it’s only the second time a division one school has had both its men and women’s teams at the top in the same year. The last time that happened was in 2004 – also by UConn.
