Long Island Congressman Peter King attended Friday prayers at a mosque in Bay Shore Friday. King notoriously held five congressional hearings on what he considered the proliferation of radical Islam following September 11th. King was invited by the mosque’s president, and he used the visit to explain his comments which many see as disparaging to Muslims.

Conn House passes bill to help long-term unemployed get job interviews

Democrats who control the Connecticut legislature would like to see businesses hire the long term unemployed. They say some businesses do not consider unemployed workers for available jobs. A bill that would prohibit such discrimination passed the state House of Representatives on Friday.

Thousand-acre property along Long Island Sound to be protected as open space

A thousand-acre property along Long Island Sound will be purchased by the state of Connecticut, the town of Old Saybrook and land trust groups.

  4/27/14 Update on suspect:

A teenaged boy charged with stabbing a fellow high school student to death on the day of their junior prom is being held in a hospital under psychiatric evaluation where he will likely remain for two weeks, one of his attorneys said Saturday.

The name of the 16-year-old suspect was not officially released.
