Conn. Senate minority leader urges special session to deal with Obamacare

The leader of the Republican minority in the Connecticut Senate wants Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy to call state lawmakers into special session immediately. The GOP leader wants lawmakers to change state law in order to implement President Obama’s fix to the Affordable Care Act.

A closer look at the McMahon v Murphy 2012 Conn. senate race

The 2012 U.S. Senate race in Connecticut was one of the most expensive senate campaigns in the country that year. Sacred Heart University political science professor Gary Rose has written a new book about the race called “No Holds Barred.”  The book begins with U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman making a historic announcement that he would not seek another term, opening up the senate seat in Connecticut. The exceptionally hard-fought senatorial campaign was eventually won by the Democrat, Chris Murphy, who defeated Linda McMahon. She serves on the Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart University.

Connecticut lawmakers held a hearing on Wednesday about sexual assault prevention and response procedures at colleges and universities in the state. The hearing was prompted by a recent federal complaint against the University of Connecticut.
