FBI says man living in Bridgeport plotted to bomb buildings, using model airplane

A man living in Bridgeport allegedly plotted to bomb a university and a federal building, by flying armed model airplanes at them. El Mehdi Smlali Fahti was arrested by the FBI on Monday.The affidavit says the FBI recorded  him repeatedly saying in Arabic that he planned to bomb a university outside of Connecticut, and a federal building and courthouse in the state, which the document says houses offices for Homeland Security Investigations. It does not specifically name which school or building were targeted.

The University of Connecticut men's basketball team defeated the University of Kentucky 60-54 on Monday night to win their fourth NCAA championship.

UConn guard Shabazz Napier was selected as the Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four after getting 22 points and six rebounds in the championship game.
 
 The Huskies' steely point guard outshined Kentucky's freshmen phenoms in the win. Napier and fellow backcourt mate Ryan Boatright controlled the tempo
and together outscored Wildcats twin guards Aaron and Andrew Harrison 36-15.
 
 Napier as a freshman won a national title on UConn's 2011 team led by another
star guard in Kemba Walker.

Back at the school's campus in Storrs, thousands of jubilant students celebrated the win.

Lawmakers consider system to track Conn. students from pre-K to their first job

A bill that would allow Connecticut officials to track students from pre-K through to their first jobs was passed by the state General Assembly’s Higher Education Committee on Monday. The bill was approved despite some concerns the system might violate privacy rights.
