Lawmakers consider system to track Conn. students from pre-K to their first job

A bill that would allow Connecticut officials to track students from pre-K through to their first jobs was passed by the state General Assembly’s Higher Education Committee on Monday. The bill was approved despite some concerns the system might violate privacy rights.

Reformers fault Cuomo for not holding elections

New York's short-lived public campaign finance program came to a halt Monday when the program's test participant, State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, said he would not participate in the pilot program because it was unjust. Reformers are blaming New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for not holding special elections that might have provided the votes.

New Haven lab trying ultrasound therapy to treat speech disorders

A New Haven, Connecticut based company is trialing the use of ultra-sound to see if it can improve and speed up a patient’s ability to see as well as hear their speech during therapy sessions.

Haskins Laboratories, a speech and language organization, is the only laboratory in New England carrying out this clinical research and just one of ten organizations across the U.S. looking at ultra-sound.

  Connecticut didn't wait for the final buzzer to beat Florida this time.

The Huskies, the seventh seed in the East Regional, had outstanding games on both ends of the court to beat overall No. 1 seed Florida 63-53 on Saturday night.

The win ended Florida's 30-game winning streak, which began after the Huskies beat the Gators 65-64 on Dec. 2 on a buzzer-beating jumper by Shabazz Napier.

Former Conn. Gov. Rowland steps down from radio show

Former Connecticut Governor John Rowland says he's stepping down from his Hartford area radio talk show.

This comes after former Republican Congressional Candidate Lisa-Wilson Foley and her husband pleaded guilty to federal campaign financing violations in a conspiracy that allegedly involved Rowland.
