New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is throwing his support behind a candidate for New York City mayor race. He appeared at second place candidate Bill Thompson’s concession speech, and is endorsing the Democratic front runner, Bill deBlasio.
Connecticut’s Department of Labor held its first job fair of the fall hiring season Friday in Danbury. During the summer the the state’s unemployment rate remained high compared to the rest of the country, at just over eight percent.
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut says municipalities need to encourage stricter zoning in coastal communities. That's so they can avoid the extensive property damage associated with extreme weather events like the recent Hurricane Sandy. Murphy was speaking at a forum he organized on Friday at the Yale Climate and Energy Institute. Murphy said it will be difficult to accomplish such zoning changes.
