Stamford mayoral candidates meet in last debate before election

The last debate of Stamford candidates for mayor took place at the Ferguson Library on Thursday evening. Candidates Michael Fedele, Kathleen Murphy, David Martin and John Zito  and  answered questions about the city budget, how they'd staff their cabinet, how Stamford should protect itself against future storms,  medical marijuana and other topics. The debate was sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

Bridgeport landfill to be used for green energy generation

Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Dan Esty at Captain's Cove in Bridgeport on Thursday. The landfill where the energy park will be built is just across Cedar Creek from Captain's Cove.

The mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut, announced on Thursday that a new solar panel installation and fuel cell facility will be built on the site of an old city landfill. The plan is being called a model for green energy generation in the state.

Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy of Connecticut is pushing back against a GOP accusation that he’s been involved in unethical fundraising activity. Malloy told reporters on Wednesday that he’s done nothing wrong.

Four centers for federal housing assistance for Superstorm Sandy open in Conn.

On Wednesday, Connecticut Governor Malloy announced the opening of four intake centers in the state  to help homeowners apply for disaster assistance from super storm Sandy. The centers are in Norwalk, Milford, Fairfield and East Haven. The state Department of Housing is distributing $30 million in federal relief assistance for homeowners not covered by insurance or FEMA. Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein  says if residents have any questions they should visit a center.
