Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said Thursday he will try again to merge the county offices of treasurer and comptroller.  After his first attempt was derailed on a technicality Bellone is turning his second attempt into a somewhat unusual campaign issue for Democrats.

Hearing on victim privacy showcases debate over the release of crime scene evidence

A Connecticut task force reviewing ways to balance victims' privacy with the state's open records law held its third public hearing in Hartford on Wednesday.

Representatives of the Media urged the task force not to clamp down on information related to crime scenes, saying the public has a right to know what happened and how police handle incidents.

Conn., NY congressional delegation relieved over last minute deal

Members of Congress from Connecticut and New York say they're relieved after they helped flip the government's lights back on and avoid a default.

Matt Laslo reports the sixteen day government shutdown not only frayed the nerves of furloughed federal workers and contractors in the region, it also frayed the Republican Party.

Malloy orders review of state regulations

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy issued an executive order Wednesday requiring state agencies to review all regulations that are more than four years old.  The governor says the goal is to identify any that are obsolete, unnecessary or excessively burdensome.

Bridgeport state Representative Christine Ayala stripped of committee assignments

Connecticut House Speaker Brendan Sharkey stripped a Bridgeport legislator of all her legislative assignments on Wednesday. This comes after the state Elections Enforcement Commission referred a case involving Democratic state Rep. Christine Ayala to state prosecutors for a criminal investigation.
