Monday is the deadline to register for Connecticut’s health care exchange – the state’s insurance program that’s part of the Affordable Care Act. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut visited a New Haven school on Monday and spoke with classmates of Javier Martinez, who was killed by gunfire in December. The students said they want to do something to prevent more gun violence.
Albany lawmakers are voting on a blizzard of budget bills that were hammered out over the weekend. The budget includes money for a property tax rebate for homeowners and a number of education initiatives. While many are satisfied with the education funding some more satisfied than others.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers have agreed to a $137 billion dollar state budget. The agreement includes a limited pilot program for public campaign financing that would apply only to the state Comptroller’s race.
