Dan began his career in public radio at WUFT-FM in Gainesville while attending the University of Florida. As host and producer of the Front Page Edition of All Things Considered, he interviewed several key political figures as well as some controversial personalities. He has also been recognized by the Florida Associated Press for his feature reporting.

Gun incident at Chuck E. Cheese prompts scrutiny of gun permit appeals board

If someone wants to carry a hand gun legally in Connecticut, they need to apply for a pistol permit from local police departments. If police deny or revoke that permit, people can go before an appeals board, which has the power to override the police decision.

Conn. standardized tests show mixed results

The Connecticut Department of Education released  the results of this year's statewide standardized tests on Tuesday.

The Connecticut Academic Performance Test, which is given to 10th graders, showed slight improvement in math science, and reading. However, it also showed slightly lower scores in writing.

The Connecticut Mastery Test, which is given to elementary and middle school students, showed lower scores across the board.

Newtown group objects to pro-gun gathering at local Starbucks

Gun rights advocates around the country plan to spend money at Starbucks stores today to show support for the coffee chain's policy of allowing customers to carry hand guns inside their stores. Gun control activists are trying to discourage any gatherings in Newtown, where 20 elementary school students and 6 educators were killed during a mass shooting in December.
