Authorities in Ridgefield, Connecticut are investigating the death of a 15 month old child who was left unattended in a hot car on Monday. Connecticut State Police Spokesman Lieutenant J. Paul Vance says leaving a child alone in a car could be considered a felony.
"It seems like it is an issue that's risen to the surface," says Vance. "It seems like parents should not be reminded about this but we're doing that we're reminding them."
Connecticut police say the child's father drove his son to the hospital after finding the boy in the vehicle. Authorities say the cause of death has yet to be determined.
Temperatures approached 90 degrees in western Connecticut on Monday. So far this year, 15 children around the country have died in heat related deaths from being locked in cars.
