The end of the Connecticut legislative session on Wednesday also marked the end the state legislative careers of several members of the General Assembly.

Among them is state Senate President Donald Williams. The Brooklyn Democrat is retiring after 21 years. He is the longest-serving president of Connecticut's Senate chamber and took the job 10 years ago in the political shuffle that followed Governor John Rowland's resignation.
