Tuesday’s municipal elections in Connecticut are the first in which voters will be allowed to register and vote on the same day. Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says this is good news for voters who previously would have been locked out of the process.
“We have a lot of problems where people come in and for some usually an error in recording their name or maybe they thought they registered and forgot, or they moved and they didn’t re-register,” said Merrill. “There’s a lot of those kinds of problems on election day and this way we can fix it and allow everyone to vote.”
Polls are open in Connecticut from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
