Newtown Action Alliance Calls On Senate To Reject ‘Extremist’ Kavanaugh

Jul 11, 2018

The head of a gun control advocacy group in Newtown, Connecticut, is calling on the Senate to reject Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court.

Po Murray, the head of the Newtown Action Alliance, said in a statement released by the group that Kavanaugh is an extremist and a dangerous choice for the Supreme Court.

As a circuit court judge, Kavanaugh wrote the dissenting opinion on a ban on semi-automatic rifles in Washington, D.C. He said the Second Amendment includes the right to own semi-automatic rifles.

Murray said if Kavanaugh is appointed, parents should fear sending their children outside.

The Newtown Action Alliance was founded after the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 20 children and six educators.
