US allows Conn nuclear power plant to use warmer Long Island Sound water for cooling

The top US energy official says global warming is what compelled federal regulators to grant permission to a nuclear power plant in Connecticut to use warmer sea water for cooling. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced today (on Monday) Connecticut’s Millstone 2 power plant in Waterford has permission to use Long Island Sound water that’s as warm as 80-degrees Fahrenheit.
