Mike Kachuba & Shipping News Live In Studio A
Double-barreled live performances tonight for the two hours of "Profiles in
Folk." During the first hour our old friend Mike Kachuba paid another visit
to the show to introduce us to his new album, It Happened In Connecticut."
The album is a collection of 13 original songs of Connecticut history from
the 1600s to events in the last century. Mike can be reached via e-mail at
acoutrad@aol.com or at (203) 380-2080. Mike's a Stratford resident and has had a varied career from elephant handler and zoologist to teacher and a former member of the Ask Creek String Band. For more than 15 years, he and
his wife Mary Ellen ran the Rabbit Hill Coffeehouse in Westport, CT.
The second hour featured more old friends, the trio Shipping News.
Comprised of Gina Dunlap, Paula Daddio and Eric Yuhas, Shipping News will
be heading into the recording studio at the end of February to record
their first album. All-Ireland accordionist John Whelan will be producing
the album, which has the tentative title, "Wives' Tales." The trio can be
reached at shppngnews@aol.com.
