The CEO of Access Health Connecticut is warning that individual plans may no longer be available in the state’s health insurance exchange next year.

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy says the states that refuse to expand Medicaid under Obamacare could see hospitals close. Malloy spoke on Tuesday at a liberal think tank in Washington D.C. Twenty six states hadn't expanded Medicaid as of the end of March. 

Connecticut’s state health care exchange announced on Thursday that more than 208,000 people signed up during its first open enrollment period. That’s more than twice the number of people Access Health Connecticut expected to sign up. Nearly two thirds of enrollees in the state exchange are signed up through Medicaid. Of the nearly 78,713 people who enrolled in the exchange with a private insurance carrier, 78 percent received a tax subsidy.
