Forum On Gang Violence On Long Island

One Long Island community is fighting back against gang violence. On Wednesday night community leaders will gather to try and find a solution to the recent uptick of gang activity in Brentwood and Central Islip.

The Long Island town of Islip said Monday that the air around Roberto Clemente park in Brentwood does not contain asbestos. Air sampling was necessary after officials found 32,000 tons of illegally dumped material there that did contain asbestos. There is now a criminal investigation underway and  the issue is also becoming political.

The US Attorney’s Office arrested a Brentwood, Long Island man this morning on charges of attempting to join Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.   This is the second similar arrest this year.
