Brussels Attacks Prompt Heightened Security On LI

Nassau County Police have increased patrols around “soft targets” in the county following the terrorist attacks in Brussels. Police are also ramping up patrols during the upcoming religious holidays.

Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter says the heavily armed Bureau of Special Operations will be visible to residents and on patrol at movie theaters, malls and transit hubs across the county.

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has expressed his sorrow over the terror attacks in Brussels on Tuesday morning. 

The Islamic State, or ISIS, has taken credit for the attacks in Brussels. 

Murphy returns from fence-mending trip to Europe

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut returned Wednesday from a 3 day trip to Germany and Brussels. The trip was intended to help manage the relationship with Europe following news of spying there by the NSA.
