Unemployment rate down in NY, Conn.

Labor officials say New York's unemployment rate has reached its lowest level in nearly five years. It dropped from 7.7%  in October to 7.4% in November.

The largest gains came in the educational and health service sectors.  Suffolk and Nassau counties have added more than 31,000 total non-farm jobs since November of 2012.

The unemployment rate in Connecticut has dropped to 7.6%.  It's the third consecutive month that rate has fallen. Officials caution the decline has come amid a shrinking labor force.

Report says Conn. economy improving, but D.C. dysfunction could hurt

A new economic report by the University of Connecticut says the state gained 53 hundred jobs in the last quarter.  The report says things might have been even better if it weren’t for political brinksmanship in Washington.

The donations, media inquiries, and outpouring of both concern and curiosity proved overwhelming for the small Fairfield County town. But among the donors, General Electric Corporation stood out by providing the town something it desperately needed: workers.

Data breach at JP Morgan Chase may have affected 7,000 people in Conn.

Connecticut officials say they've learned that about 7,000 people in the state may have had their personal information put at risk due to a data breach at JP Morgan Chase.

The bank says the breach might have affected about 465,000 around the country who have a UCard, a prepaid debit card, and use its website.
