Victims of childhood sexual abuse are hoping that the #MeToo movement will help them enact the Child Victims Act in New York. The measure extends the statute of criminal and civil limitations for victims beyond the current age of 23 to age 50 and adds a one-year look back window to file civil suits. 

One man who says he is a former victim, and is now an advocate, says this is the year for the act’s passage.

A foster father from Ridge, New York, is on trial for 20 years of alleged sexual abuse of the boys under his care. Cesar Gonzales-Mugaburu has pleaded not guilty.

However, a special grand jury report released last month says the agencies responsible for the placement of the boys let Mugaburu adopt them despite nine child abuse investigations throughout the years.

A damning report from a grand jury in New York accuses the state's foster care system of endangering children. The jury found that the state's poor regulations and bureaucracy allowed an alleged predator access to disabled boys for nearly 20 years.

Fifty years ago, a massive flood devastated the city of Norwich, Connecticut.

In March of 1963, a dam at the city’s largest park collapsed and millions of gallons of water flooded the area, causing several deaths. 

Author Wally Lamb grew up in Norwich. He's used the flood as a jumping off point for his latest novel, We Are Water. It's  set in the fictional town of Three Rivers,  based on Norwich and nearby New London and Willimantic
