A national education expert told Long Island school administrators Tuesday that they should join parents in the revolt against Common Core.  Diane Ravitch, former assistant sectary of education, said the new set of education standards are socially irresponsible and likely against the law.  

At a Senate hearing on New York state’s new Common Core educational standards Wednesday, teachers, principals and Senators themselves complained that the implementation has been dysfunctional.

  For the first time New York's Education commissioner John King is signaling there may be too much state testing.  King sent a letter to school administrators across the state Thursday saying that he will push to end at least one state test.

New York Education Commissioner John King visited a Long Island elementary school Wednesday where he met privately with educators to talk about the state’s new, more rigorous education standards called Common Core.  The meeting came after King canceled several public events following  a raucous PTA meeting in Poughkeepsie last week.  

Connecticut schools are in a transitional period right now, one that could be confusing for teachers and students. Schools are choosing between older standardized tests and newer ones with higher standards.
