Connecticut's Congressional Democrats Sweep Election

Democratic incumbents in Connecticut's Congressional races bucked a national trend on Tuesday night, winning re-election in all five districts.

Fourth District

In the fourth district, Democrat Jim Himes won for the fourth time in a row. His Republican challenger, Dan Debicella, called Himes to concede the race late Tuesday night.

Himes' win over Debicella is a replay of the 2010 election, which Himes won with 53 percent of the vote.

Members of Conn's Congressional delegation raise much more money than their opponents

Of the five members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation, Representative Jim Himes has raised the most money so far in this year’s election cycle. Representative Rosa DeLauro has raised the least. That's according to Open Secrets, a website that tracks money in politics.

Reps Larson and Courtney push for Congressional vote on renewal of Export-Import Bank charter

Two members of Congress from Connecticut are pushing back against tea party Republicans who want to see the demise of a federal agency that provides help for US exporters. U.S. Representatives Joe Courtney and John Larson, both Democrats, held an event in Hartford on Monday to call on the GOP-led House of Representatives to vote to renew the charter of the Export-Import bank.

A new report  by the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns and other advocates says between the 2012 shooting in Newtown and February of this year, there were 44 school shootings in the U.S, with 30 more since then. Congressman John Larson of Connecticut is calling for a vote on legislation requiring background checks to purchase guns.

Gun industry association withdraws support for Coltsville National Historic Park in Conn.

A national gun industry association is withdrawing its support for federal legislation to create the Coltsville National Historical Park in Hartford. It cited the recent passage of Connecticut's gun control legislation in a letter to the state's congressional delegation and governor.
