Blumenthal vows to hold officials acountable for fixing problems at the VA Hospital in West Haven

US Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut visited the VA Healthcare System hospital in West Haven on Friday to demand officials implement an aggressive program to correct unsanitary conditions at the hospital. Blumenthal is responding to a VA Inspector General’s report released on Tuesday that pointed out the unsanitary conditions.

Connecticut Vietnam era veterans who left high school early to join the military will now receive honorary diplomas. That's because of one of two new state laws signed on Monday by Governor Dannel Malloy in commemoration of Veteran’s Day.

The processing of financial benefits for veterans has been frozen because of the partial government shutdown.  The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs is reaching out to veterans to help them get the right information about how significant the impact could be.
