The Connecticut House of Representatives has approved a bill that clarifies what school districts around the state must do to meet state requirements in creating school safety plans. Lawmakers required the safety plans last year in response to the Newtown School Shooting.
Registered sex offenders in Connecticut may soon be able to apply to have their names removed from the state’s child abuse registry. The state House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday that would allow offenders to do this after 10 years on the registry.
Democrats who control the Connecticut legislature would like to see businesses hire the long term unemployed. They say some businesses do not consider unemployed workers for available jobs. A bill that would prohibit such discrimination passed the state House of Representatives on Friday.
The Connecticut General Assembly has so-called veto sessions scheduled for Monday morning meant to look at the possibility of overriding any of Governor Dannel Malloy's vetoes. The sessions are expected to be brief with no major action.
