Conn. Head Start rejects gift from Texas billionaire couple

On Wednesday Connecticut stepped in to provide $800,000 to reopen a Head Start program in Bridgeport that’s been closed since last week because of the partial shutdown of the federal government. This means the program is rejecting a gift from a Texas billionaire couple that was made through the National Head Start Association.

Malloy reiterates support for Martin

Democrats in Stamford put on a united front Monday as Governor Dannel Malloy ceremoniously endorsed candidate David Martin for mayor.

Malloy, a former 12-year mayor of Stamford, had endorsed his personal friend William Tong in the Democratic primary.

Conn. approves state bonds for Bass Pro Shop store in Bridgeport

Connecticut's Bond Commission unanimously approved a $22 million financing package on Friday for a planned Bass Pro Shops store that would anchor a Bridgeport waterfront development. This means construction can begin on the Steel Point peninsula development that’s been on the drawing board for more than 25 years.

Malloy says Metro North disruption could last up to 3 weeks

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy says the electrical problems that disrupted service on Metro North's New Haven line between Stamford and Grand Central Terminal could continue to be a problem for as much as three weeks.  

The Governor spoke at a press conference at the Emergency Operations Center.

Metro North spokesman Aaron Donovan says there’s usually a second cable that could serve as a backup, but Wednesday morning’s outage came at a bad time, because that second cable is currently out of service for an upgrade.
