Faith leaders from around New York came to the Capitol to gain support in the State Senate to adopt a statewide single payer health care system. It would be an alternative to the national Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, which Republicans in Congress and President Trump have been trying to dismantle. 

ACA Enrollment Deadline Is Midnight Tonight

The deadline to sign up for coverage under the state health insurance exchanges in Connecticut and New York is midnight Tuesday.

Some Connecticut residents who are benefiting from the Affordable Care Act are speaking up in an effort to convince the Republican-controlled Congress to reconsider repealing President Barack Obama’s signature legislation.

Connecticut health insurance customers will have fewer private companies to choose from when they sign up for coverage beginning next week, but one more than customers will find in other parts of the country.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., wants the Department of Justice to block proposed mergers of several health insurance giants.  

Blumenthal and a group of six other Democratic senators wrote a letter to the DOJ which is currently reviewing the possible mergers of Aetna and Humana, as well as Anthem and Cigna.
