Connecticut Comptroller Kevin Lembo wants state lawmakers to pass a bill to require transparency in prescription drug pricing. He says it would help prevent out-of-control drug price increases, like what happened with the EpiPen injection a couple of years ago. The legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate Committee held a hearing on the bill on Tuesday.

Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman says Connecticut won’t be able to afford its Husky Health program for children if Congress fails to renew the Children’s Health Insurance Program, CHIP, that pays for it.

On Long Island, Northwell Health says it will close its Obamacare subsidiary due to the uncertainty in the health insurance market. They will remove it from the New York State insurance market in 2018.

Faith leaders from around New York came to the Capitol to gain support in the State Senate to adopt a statewide single payer health care system. It would be an alternative to the national Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, which Republicans in Congress and President Trump have been trying to dismantle.
