Brussels Attacks Prompt Heightened Security On LI

Nassau County Police have increased patrols around “soft targets” in the county following the terrorist attacks in Brussels. Police are also ramping up patrols during the upcoming religious holidays.

Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter says the heavily armed Bureau of Special Operations will be visible to residents and on patrol at movie theaters, malls and transit hubs across the county.

Cuomo Sending National Guard To NY Airports

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is sending members of the New York National Guard to Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports following the terrorist attacks in Brussels. 

The state of New York plans to create the nation’s first college dedicated to homeland security and emergency preparedness. Backers say it’s a necessary measure given the major storms and terrorist threats the state has dealt with.
