Connecticut lawmakers have rescheduled Friday’s special session for Monday because of the snow. The lawmakers want to use the session to restore funding to a program that helps elderly and disabled state residents cover Medicare expenses.

Smith House in Stamford, Connecticut is one of only two nursing homes operated by a city or town in the state. But city leaders are struggling to keep up with its rising costs. WSHU's Kaomi Goetz reports that changes in how Connecticut approaches long-term care is testing the viability of Smith House and other nursing homes across the state.

Connecticut’s two US senators are concerned a major insurance company is jeopardizing the welfare of patients by dropping doctors from its Medicare Advantage program.  The senators held a hearing in Hartford on Wednesday to look into further regulation of health insurance companies that participate in the program.
