When Democratic candidate for governor Cynthia Nixon called for a state Moreland Act Commission to investigate government corruption Tuesday, she was not the first to do so. Her opponent, Governor Andrew Cuomo, also requested and created a Moreland Commission to look at potential illegal activities in state government, but he disbanded it as part of a budget deal several months later.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s explanation of some of the circumstances of a U.S. Attorney’s probe into his administration has left some unanswered questions.

Cuomo offered a brief explanation of his former top aide’s involvement in a scandal now encompassing his administration, saying the actions of Joe Percoco were perfectly legitimate.

Reformers focus on NY Board of Elections

Reform groups are focusing attention on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s anti corruption commission’s recommendations to beef up the anemic State Board of Elections but say they have not given up hope of public campaign financing for state wide races.

Advocates and lawmakers in Albany are reacting to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s anti corruption commission report. The report includes  scathing criticism of what the commission says is a corrupt culture in Albany, and recommends numerous reforms.
