Narcan Saves Lives But Won't Solve Opioid Crisis

Last year Suffolk County led the state in opioid overdose deaths, with 150 fatalities. In 2006 the state began training responders in the administration of Narcan, the opioid overdose medication. At the time the only way to administer the drug was through injection.

In Nassau County, Red Light Camera Revenue Short $3 Million

The Nassau County Traffic Safety Board has reported millions of dollars in lost revenue from its red light traffic camera program.

According to a new report, Nassau County issued almost 100,000 fewer tickets through the camera program in 2014 than they had in the previous year, resulting in an eight percent drop in revenue.

The Hope for Youth family services organization is opening an emergency youth shelter on Tuesday morning in Suffolk County to help address the growing number of runaway and homeless children on Long Island.  

Suffolk May Be Next Site For Tax-Free Program
