NY education chief hears concern, eliminates 1 test

After criticism sharpens, Education Commissioner John King moves to eliminate one state test

  For the first time New York's Education commissioner John King is signaling there may be too much state testing.  King sent a letter to school administrators across the state Thursday saying that he will push to end at least one state test.

NY education chief eschews public meetings for private

Education Commissioner John King following a private meeting in Shirley, New York. King says he will have future public meeting but not ones with any yelling.

New York Education Commissioner John King visited a Long Island elementary school Wednesday where he met privately with educators to talk about the state’s new, more rigorous education standards called Common Core.  The meeting came after King canceled several public events following  a raucous PTA meeting in Poughkeepsie last week.
