The New Haven Symphony Orchestra visits The Great White Way with concerts Saturday, Oct 19th at Hamden Middle School and Sunday, Oct 20th at Shelton Middle School.  Todd Ellison, currently the music director of "Annie" on Broadway, will be on the podium for a program that includes hits from Gershwin's "Girl Crazy," as well as "Fiddler on the Roof," "Cabaret" and "Wicked."  Tony Award-winning singer Debbie Gravitte will be joining the orchestra as well.

Beethoven was a confident, witty young man with his whole career ahead of him when he premiered his First Piano Concerto in Vienna.  It's on the season-opening concerts by the Stamford Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Eckart Preu at the Palace Theater Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th.  Listen in to Kate Remington's conversation with Eckart Preu.

Cellist Ron Thomas is the Artistic Director of the Chestnut Hill Concert series in Old Saybrook. The series begins Friday, Aug. 2, at the Kate Performing Arts Center, and the theme of this year's season is Romantic Masters and those they inspired. Kate Remington talked with Thomas about the turbulent lives these composers led, and how they influenced music that's being written even today.
