Newtown families criticize distribution of donated funds

After the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in December, millions of dollars were donated to the families of the victims of that tragedy. And much of that money has yet to be distributed. That process has led to complaints from families of the victims.

Roxana Robinson's newest novel limns Iraq vet's struggles

Conrad Farrell is just home from Iraq. A 26-year-old graduate of Williams College, he had surprised his family when he joined the Marines. Now he's surprised at how impossible life seems back home.

Conrad is the protagonist of Roxana Robinson's newest novel Sparta. WSHU's Mark Herz spoke to her about it.

Documentary follows Westport bar into the world of "craft" cocktails

If you stop by the bar at Dunville's Restaurant in Westport, Connecticut, you can order a beer and shot, if you want. But the owner there, Stephen Carpentieri might encourage you to be a little more adventurous - maybe ordering a cocktail that combines the flavors of cucumber and lime with a few different kinds of spirits. Carpentieri and his bar are featured in a new documentary, called "Hey Bartender" about the current trend of craft cocktails. The movie follows Carpentieri as he gets swept up in that trend, and WSHU's Craig LeMoult sat down at the bar with him for a drink.

It's summertime and on Saturday nights on Long Island there are demolition derbies.  Cars wrecking cars for the pure thrill of it.  WSHU's Charles Lane recently went to a "demo" at Riverhead Raceway and he found out Long Island is the legendary home of the demolition derby.  He brought back this audio postcard.
