Conn. praised for being 2nd state in region to insist on insurance coverage for gender transition

GLAD says it is urging all six New England states to cover all medical treatments related to gender dsyphoria.

A New England gay rights organization is praising Connecticut's Department of Insurance for issuing a bulletin to the state’s insurers. The bulletin is an order that tells insurers they have to pay for gender transition treatments. WSHU’s Mark Herz reports it’s the second state in New England to issue such a bulletin.

Long lines as Conn. assault weapon registration deadline nears

Connecticut state police are reporting long lines at their headquarters as state residents attempt to register assault weapons and large capacity magazines before a December 31st deadline. The deadline is part of tough new gun laws passed in Connecticut following last December’s school shooting in Newtown. (A large capacity magazine is defined as any firearm magazine or other device that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition.)

Connecticut announced on Tuesday it’s launched a webpage to help families find state mental health resources. The  Mental Health Parity webpage also has information to help families navigate insurance coverage for behavioral health and substance abuse treatment.

Malloy administration accused of misstating unemplyoment numbers

Connecticut Republicans say a UConn study released on Monday confirms what they have been saying for months – that Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy’s administration has been misstating the state’s unemployment numbers. A Malloy spokesman denies the charge.
